How to Make Easy Overnight Refrigerator Oats
Since I first published this post in 2015, overnight oats have become a staple in our house! This recipe is super simple (just what I need to make my mornings a little easier) and so good!
We still use the basic 1:1:1 formula of oats, to milk, to yogurt, although we now use gluten-free oats for my hubs and almond milk and Yoplait's Oui French-style yogurt for #miniboss (since then, she's graduated from #toddler boss, see below!). We always use a ripe banana too, although we do switch up the second fruit, depending on what we have the house.
This recipe makes about two good servings because I love using the wide mouth pint-size jars, but feel free to adjust as needed for your household!

In honor of #NationalOatmealDay, toddler boss and I took a break from our usual best oatmeal ever and decided to make our own version of overnight refrigerator oatmeal. We used a 1:1:1 ratio of oats to whole milk to Greek yogurt. After that, we added a few goodies that we had on hand, and then let all of the flavors settle in and get nice and cozy overnight.
This morning, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our little experiment went really, really well! The peach-strawberry yogurt and the ripe banana made our oatmeal just sweet enough such that we didn't need to add a sweetener. We added granola to give it a little crunch and it was perfect!
I haven't seen toddler boss enjoy a breakfast dish this much in a while, so this is going down in the BambiniWare kitchen as an official home run:-).

ACTIVE TIME: 5 mins
CHILL TIME: 8+ hours
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick oats!)
1 cup milk
1 cup yogurt (vanilla or flavored)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 ripe banana, mashed
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1/4 cup granola to top (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Add oats, milk, yogurt, cinnamon, banana and raspberries to a small bowl. Mix well.
2. Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, and cover with a lid.
3. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
4. Add granola just prior to serving.
5. Enjoy within 2 days.
